| Starting Your Own Religion |
| By Greg Vanden Berge 9/10/2008 |
At what point do we get tired of going to church, temple or whatever we
want to call the house of worship. When do we finally say enough is
enough, you get with a group of friends and then change your religion to
fit their needs. We might not like the way our religious scriptures are
represented by the spiritual masters in that organization. That's a good
enough reason isn't it.
Over the years many religions have changed their beliefs and some have
even changed their doctrine. Some religious beliefs have changed over
the decades to suit the modern day believers. In with the new and out
with the old.
So why not start your own religion, how hard would it be? First thing
were going to need is a place to gather or worship. Do we even want to
worship, maybe we can start an organization that parties all the time.
Oh no wait a minute we have them places of worship and they're called
taverns or bars. Now wait a minute that can't be right we can't have a
tavern as a place to worship because they sell alcohol and do immoral
activities.
Oh wait a minute isn't that what some religions do all over the world,
immoral activities with a little alcohol within their organization.
Maybe this is another reason why we need to start our own religion, to
get away from the people that are hypocrites.
After we find a place to worship or gather, the next step is going to be
rewriting their religious text or maybe even creating a new textbook
with religious doctrine. Now that sounds good, we are finally getting
somewhere, the only question now where is our new religion going and how
do we get it there. Let's take a quick look at history for a moment.
Most of the people in the past had no idea where they were going to go
or in what direction their new religion would take them. It's hard to
imagine what Joseph Smith, the founder of The Church of Christ the
Latter Day Saints was thinking when he started creating his own
religion. What do you think could have ever inspired him to start
writing. Do you really think it quite possibly could have been God or
maybe some sort of the entity, good or bad. Honestly we really don't
know do we.
Well now that we have a place to worship and a book to read, our next
problem is going to be to convert people and make them believers in our
new church. Now this is where the real work is going to start and we can
look at history to give us quite a few examples of the new religion's
that have started over the past 3000 years.
So what do you think is the time to start your own church or does it
sound like too much work. The choice is simply yours and yours alone.
People have been starting new religions for centuries with the exception
of the very first religion of course and are going to continue in the
future.
So why do people continue to follow religious organizations and not
their own beliefs. Is it quite possible that we will have no need for
organized religion in the future. Is it possible to have a fulfilling
life of happiness and joy without a religious leader telling us how to
live our lives. Something to think about and ponder on.
